Attitude

Just thought it would be cool to share a little bit more on this attitude thing that i recently heard from a sermon.

The story goes like that, the preacher was going on a plane ride with a friend who was sending him somewhere. (its a true story by the way) so this was his first time on a plane like that(you know those 2 seater ones) and he was fascinated by all the gadgets and meters and all. As he was flying, he noticed how his friend kept looking at a particular meter, so out of curiosity, he asked,"Whats that meter you keep looking at most? It looks really important?"

The dude replied, shouting through wind,"YEA! ITS CALLED THE ATTITUDE METER!"

"SORRY, WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN, THE ALTITUDE METER?" the preacher replied, being sure that he heard the "attitude meter".

"NO, THE ATTITUDE METER!" said the pilot again.

Feeling puzzled, the preacher asked, "boy, i've heard of the altitude meter, but this, whats this attitude meter?"

And the pilot replied, "yea, its a really important meter. It gives me the orientation of the plane! And it reflects the plane's performance!" Pausing for a while, he continued,"When the needle deflects to the left, it means the plane as a 'nose-high attitude' ..."

"and when it deflects the other way it means it has a 'nose-down attitude'?" interrupted the preacher as he gave a chuckle.

"why yes! thats right! And thats very important!" replied the pilot.

Now i wont go into the technicalities of how that works, but tell me, how many of you heard of the attitude meter? i'm telling you, i haven't! But it exists and you can go google it! Now really, the point of the story is this. 1 Peter 4:1 tells us to "arm ourselves with the same attitude of Christ"(paraphrased). And our attitude like the plane, has a direct correlation to our performance. Being in the Children's ministry, there's absolutely no place for a 'nose-high' attitude. Instead, we should bear the attitude of Christ, that of a servant, for even the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give his life as a ransom for many.(Mark10:45)

remember, if we are here to serve, no task is too small for us to do, 37"Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."(Mark 9:37) And then we shall indeed have the joy of Christ, where our joy will be made full!(John15:11)

Let this be a source of motivation and encouragement for us as we continue to serve alongside one another in this ministry! and let the joy of service fill our actions with an attitude that is just right!(not nose-down either where we don't dare to step up and out of our comfort zones!)

Hope you enjoyed this short....sharing?

In Christ,
Aaron
